Chloramines have long been an effective method of water disinfection that meet all EPA and NJDEP drinking water standards and have been used by New Jersey American Water since the 1980s. In mid-February, as part of an annual routine maintenance program for its water distribution system, New Jersey American Water temporarily changed the water treatment process from a chloramine residual (a combined residual) to a free chlorine residual. These plants serve New Jersey American Water customers in the following counties: Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Union. – AP– On April 25, New Jersey American Water will resume using chloramines in water treatment at its Raritan-Millstone and Canal Road Water Treatment plants. Through this process I enforce payment of Sewer Charges for the Sewerage Authority as well as all other delinquent municipal charges. The Tax Sale process enforces payment through placement of Municipal Tax Liens. Final water billing between buyer and seller are handled as well. Homeowners buying or selling property in Town require Tax Searches that are certified through this Department. Health issues pertaining to debris and dilapidation of properties are handled through this Department. We maintain files on these deductions to ensure proper repayment from the State. We maintain records with regard to any type of property tax deduction and or reduction. We must enforce collection for special assessments assessed against owners receiving a benefit for some kind of improvement to their property. Throughout any giving year this department must collect revenue for the County, Schools, Municipality and Fire Districts.
